Child left in hot car

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - A three-month-old was rushed to LeBonheur Children's Hospital after being left inside a locked car Wednesday. Memphis Police report the child was brought to the hospital in non-critical condition. Investigators say the 3-month-old child was left in a car in the parking lot of the Bass Pro Shop store. That's in the Shelby Crossing Shopping Center off Macon Road which is near I-40 and Sycamore View.

Our cameras caught video of the ambulance as it was leaving the scene around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. It is unclear how long the child was left in the car, but experts say it doesn't matter. Dr. Helen Morrow with the Shelby County Health Department says you should never leave your kids in a car no matter the circumstances.

Dr. Morrow says the same rules apply to pets. The best advice is to never leave children or animals unattended, especially infants. As of Wednesday evening, no charges have been filed in the case. However, Memphis Police say they are investigating.
