Man accused of sending child porn directly to investigators

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A Memphis man faces child pornography charges after investigators say he shared the photos and videos with the police.

William Keltner's neighbors did not want to go on camera, but after police swarmed their neighborhood last week, they described what Keltner is accused of as "sad and inexcusable."

Keltner is now charged with multiple counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police say they searched his computer and found more than 300 photos and 25 videos that they believe he intended to "distribute, promote, sell, transport, purchase, or exchange."

According to an affidavit of complaint, Keltner was caught during an undercover operation utilizing a file sharing program, in which investigators received three complete and three partial files depicting child abuse from a specific IP address that led them to his computer.

Memphis Police Department says the case was made by its designated Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

"We have a unit that's going to take these guys down. They have to understand that we're going to eventually catch them," said Lt. Wilton Cleveland, Memphis Police Department. "Because there's always a digital fingerprint out there that's going to bring us back to the person that's doing it."

Keltner was staying with a relative, who neighbors say was unaware of what was going on.

Keltner will appear in court Thursday.
