Mid-South Fair kicks off despite soggy conditions

(WMC-TV) - The Mid-South Fair kicked off Friday, despite the rain showers that moved through the region.

"You can't let the weather affect a good time," said Terry Abbott.

"This is definitely the first time I've been back in a long time and I haven't ever been to this one," said Michelle Jew.

For some, the rides are the draw, but for others, it's all about the food.

"The funnel cakes and the fried Oreos!" added Jew.

Tents became a popular hiding spot from the afternoon downpour, kids wasted no time checking out the rides. And parents did not seem to mind braving the rain for those smiles.

"We've been in a bunch of situations where there's a lot of rain, it's not that much so we're just going to go," said Sami Abbott.

The Mid-South Fair will continue through September 29 at Landers Center, which is 4560 Venture Drive, Southaven, MS.

Tickets are $10 for adults and kids. Seniors can get in for $5.
