MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Memphis police surrounded a home in South Memphis where a burglary suspect was barricaded inside for hours. It was an hours-long standoff to cap off a chase that started in Southaven and caused three different wrecks along the way.

A narcotics officer was watching a suspect in Southaven wanted for a burglary charge in a car late Thursday afternoon. The suspect was one of three people in a car near State Line and Highway 55.

At some point, the officers tried to block the car in. The car then tried to ram through the officers and head north.

Narcotics officers not in uniform continued to follow the car into Memphis and called MPD to alert them. One narcotics officer witnessed the car get in multiple wrecks at Interstate 240 and Airways Boulevard, Kingsview and Vista drives, and Brooks Road and Elvis Presley Boulevard.

A 10-year-old boy was taken to the hospital from one of the accident scenes.

The car bailed at the end of Sherrie Cove, which is near Alcy Elementary school. That is when one suspect was arrested. The second suspect was barricaded in a house until TACT officers went inside.

Clifton Spencer was finally arrested around 1 a.m. Friday. Alleged accomplice Kadijah Wilson was arrested by Southaven Police.

"When I saw them looking under cars and things I knew something was suspicious, something was going on," said neighbor Jerome Black.

Spencer, Wilson, and a third suspect were wanted for a string of burglaries. The third suspect is still missing.

Spencer and Wilson are being held without bond.
