9-year-old boy becomes face of upcoming Grizz season

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A very special moment was caught on camera when Jordan Pendleton, 9, saw his face on a billboard for the very first time. The sign was advertising the Memphis Grizzlies upcoming season.

You may have seen the billboard around town. Pendleton is holding up his growl towel. So how was he chosen for the gig?

"My dad said they thought, 'That's a really confident kid. Let's take a picture of him and put him on the billboard,'" said Jordan.

Perhaps Jordan gets his confidence from his grandmother, who has been a Grizz Granny for two years.

"The expression that he has on his face when they took that. We don't bluff, we still going to continue to believe," said Phyllis Buehler, Grizz Granny. "I said, 'That's awesome. That's my grandson!"

Jordan says the photo was taken last year during the last game of the Western Conference Finals when San Antonio beat the Grizzlies. This year, though, he insists it is going to be different.

"I think that they're going to be really good this year and make it to the championship," he said.

The excitement is building for the upcoming Memphis grizzlies season, seen through the eyes and the expression of a 9-year-old boy.
