SC State’s Lewis-Freeman, Brown and Bellamy, Earn Top Weekly Honors

South Carolina State's Dondre Lewis-Freeman was selected at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, while Dondre Brown was named Rookie of the Week and  teammate Tristan Bellamy earned Offensive Lineman of the Week honors the conference announced on Monday.
 
Norfolk State's Lynden Trail was named Defensive Player of the Week. Hampton's Christian Faber-Kinney earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
 
Freeman (RB, 5-7, 196, r-So., Charlotte, N.C.) rushed for a career-high 140 yards on 18 attempts, with one touchdown, as he led the Bulldogs to a 30-6 conference victory over Hampton.
 
Trail (LB, 6-7, 260, r-Jr., Miami, Fla.) led the Spartans defensive unit with six tackles, three solo, with one for a one-yard loss.  He also intercepted two passes for seven yards.  Trail saw time on the offensive side of the ball against Morgan State, catching his first career touchdown pass in the second quarter to tie the game.
 
Brown (RB, 6-1, 238, Fr., Varnville, S.C.) rushed for 86 yards with two touchdowns in the Bulldogs' win over Hampton.
 
Bellamy (OL, 6-3, 300, r-Sr., Johnston, S.C.) graded out at 88-percent of his assignments as he anchored the Bulldogs' offensive line that accounted for 369 yards of total offense.  He also tallied five pancake blocks in a win over Hampton.
 
Faber-Kinney (P, 6-1, 235, Fr., Williamsburg, Va.) averaged 41.5 yards on six punts with a long of 70 yards including two inside the 20 yard-line against South Carolina State.  He also rushed for 37 yards and threw a pass for 32 yards, on two fake punt attempts, to convert on a pair of fourth down attempts against the Bulldogs.

Cody Acker (MSU) posted 14 tackles, 12 solo, with two for a loss of two yards and forced two fumbles against Norfolk State.
 
Nick Belcher (SCSU) averaged 42.5 yards on four punts, with three inside the 20 yard-line, in the Bulldogs' win over Hampton.
 
Andrew Carter (SCSU) tallied eight tackles, seven solo, with 5.5 for a loss of 20 yards including 3.5 sacks in a win over Hampton.
 
Dae-Hone Cheung (DSU) rushed for 90 yards on 13 attempts, with a long of 61 yards, including one touchdown against Savannah State.
 
Tyler Clark (NSU) completed 19-of-28 passes for 125 yards with two touchdowns against Morgan State.
 
D'Vonte Grant (NCAT) collected 12 tackles, six solo, with three for a loss of seven yards against Howard.
 
Seth Higgins (MSU) recorded 83 yards through the air on 5-of-14 attempts, including one touchdown in the Bears' loss to Norfolk State.  He also rushed 12 times for 63 yards with two touchdowns. 
 
Carvin Johnson (Hampton) recorded 15 tackles, 12 solo, with one for a loss of two yards, and posted one interception and one recovered fumble against South Carolina State.
 
Cameron Marouf (NSU) kicked a 34-yard field goal on his first career attempt against Morgan State.
 
Joshua Matthews (Howard) graded out at 98-percent of his assignments as he helped Howard gain 324 yards of total offense against North Carolina A&T.  He also registered three pancake blocks in the game.
 
Anthony Prevost (Hampton) scored the teams' six points by connecting on a career-high 43 and a 31-yard field goal against South Carolina State.
 
Cory Scott (DSU) recorded a career-high nine tackles, one solo, with two for a loss of four yards.  He also forced a fumble and broke up two passes in the Hornets' victory over Savannah State.
 
Mitchell Ward (DSU) finished 3-for-3 in point after attempts and recorded a 37-yard field goal, one touchback and one recovery in the Hornets' victory over Savannah State.
 
Myles Williams (Howard) blocked a punt that led to a score and recorded two tackles against North Carolina A&T.
