PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A 32-year-old man was killed after he fell from the bed of a pickup truck was run over by several vehicles Wednesday night on Interstate 10 near Picacho Peak.

The pickup carrying the unidentified man collided with another vehicle about 7:30 p.m. and then took off.

The truck was found at the junction of I-10 and I-8,  said Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Raul Garcia.

The driver of the truck was taken into custody after a search of the area, Garcia said.

A DPS investigation was being adied by U.S. Customs, Border Patrol and Mesa police.

DPS was trying to contact the victim's family Thursday morning, Garcia said.

The westbound lanes of I-10 near Picacho Peak were closed at milepost 223 but reopened about 4 a.m. Thursday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

No other information was immediately available.
