MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Memphis police responded to the second report of a sexual assault at East High School Thursday afternoon.

Police cars sat in front of the school for hours.

Investigators say there was a complaint of a rape at East High that reportedly happened after school had ended for the day. Police spent hours inside the school investigating. Around 6:40 p.m. a police crime scene van arrived.

Plenty of students were still at the school when the alleged incident was reported, but they said they did not know anything about what was going on.

Parents and students remained cautious as they headed to school the next morning.

"The school should be safe for the kids," said Dannika Richards.

Parents like Richards are concerned about the safety for their children attending EHS.

"Now it seems like it isn't for our kids, and they don't know who to turn to at the moment," said Richards.

Police investigated a rape case involving a victim who was a specials needs student in August at the same school. The suspect's charges were dropped shortly after the accusations.

"I'm very shocked. I'm very surprised. I would think the school would be safe a safe place to go," said parent Trisha Henderson.

A cloud of concern continues to surround East High school as schools countywide go on fall break next week.
