MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The 18-year-old police say was involved in the brawl in Friday's fights at Southwind High School was arraigned in court Monday morning.

Investigators charged Michael Sample with assault. Deputies reviewed video taken at the school during the fight, and officers say they spotted Sample and a 17-year-old student hitting each other.

No one was hurt in the on-campus fights. The fight involved a number of students and resulted in the school being put on lock down for several hours.

Investigators are looking into the possibility the fights may be connected to a shooting Thursday night that sent two teenagers to the hospital.

Officials have not only canceled the Homecoming football game but have moved the whole Homecoming in general. A new homecoming date has not yet been set.

Officials at juvenile court said Monday that the two 17-year-olds were released to the custody of their parents on an appearance bond, which means the teens were allowed to go home after their parents signed a document stating their child will come back to court.

The teens' next appearance is expected to happened in about two weeks. All three of the students accused of fighting have been suspended from the high school for 180 days.
