Police: One arrest could solve crimes across Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A man, who is incriminated in a theft bust which could solve a number of crimes across Memphis, is answering to a judge Friday.

According to police, Henry Benton, 43, is being accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

It all began when undercover officers spotted a stolen car. They were able to arrest him in Southeast Memphis Thursday afternoon.

In the car, officials discovered quite a few items. These stolen goods include a FedEx id, clothing, redbox movies, magazines, a GPS, and sunglass.

Investigators are now warning you to take this theft seriously. Their message is to stow it and not show it.

"Nobody wants to go through this. Nobody wants their own property and the things they've worked hard for, saved for, to be stolen," declared Colonel Mike Ryall of the Memphis Police Department.

Ryall is encouraging for citizens to always lock their things up in a secure place.

Benton is scheduled to appear in court 8:30 a.m. Friday. He is being charged with burglary, auto theft, and theft of property.
