Woman falls from car, 2 charged

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Hendersonville police arrested Tina M. Shelton, 53, and William Bryant Groves, 69, of Cottontown early Sunday morning.

Witnesses told police they saw a woman fall out of a car on Vietnam Veterans Boulevard.

The car's occupants tried to get the victim back into the vehicle, but quickly fled the scene, according to witnesses.

Responding officers found the woman lying on the side of the road.

She was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital by Sumner County Emergency Medical Services for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe she was ejected from the moving vehicle following a domestic disturbance.

Shelton has been charged with one count of attempted first degree murder, one count of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, and domestic assault. Her bond was set at $500,000.

Groves, who was  allegedly driving the vehicle, has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact of attempted first degree murder, leaving the scene of the accident with injuries, and reckless endangerment with a weapon. His bond has not been set.

A court date has been set for December 11, 2013.
