(WMC-TV) - Three Mid-South students will be honored as part of the U.S. Army All-American band.

Most people would think getting a perfect ACT score as a sophomore would be enough, but now a Southaven student is among a rare group selected to perform at a football game that makes national headlines.

Only 125 band students across the country are chosen for the U.S Army All-American Bowl. Southaven High School senior Zach Buchanan is one of them.

"Something that started off so innocently walking into 6th grade band. The first day can grow with the work ... Can turn into something that gets national recognition," said Zach.

Action News 5 introduced Zach as a sophomore when he made a perfect ACT score just like his older brother Will. Will was also chosen for the honor band when he was a senior, and Zach is honored to follow in his brother's footsteps again as he prepares to make a leap of his own.

"A lot of people think that once you get certain achievements that you're done, but it's been a matter of searching of the past year searching for new ways what else can I do, what else can I strive for," said Zach.

Zach is still thinking about his college choice, but is leaning towards Mississippi State – also just like his brother.

But Zach is not the only Mid-South senior to get the award. Michael Gray from Collierville High School and Jaske Goff from Germantown High School will be honored at their schools tomorrow.
