MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A popular Memphis restaurant is shutting its doors and throwing away thousands of dollars worth of food after its copper was stolen.

Action News 5 first reported on Carnival Foods back in Aug 19, 2010. The owner of Carnival Foods, Lynette Hill, told Action News 5 how dedicated she and her husband were to the community.

"The fair left and we got to still support our people in Memphis. So, we decided to do it year round," said Hill in 2010.

But now, Hill discovered the copper theft Thursday morning. When she came into work, the utilities were off.

"Don't bother my business. I work too hard. I'm standing here from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day a week," she said.

The criminals were later seen on surveillance video breaking into the store around midnight and stripping it of copper wire.

Police are hoping the footage will help them find the suspects in the theft.

If you know anything that can help police, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
