TIPTON COUNTY, TN -

(WMC-TV) - New details are continuing to emerge on the deadly shooting by deputies in Tipton County.

Recent information by officials shows several deputies were involved in the incident.

According to deputies, the suspect had a knife and gave them reason to believe he would use it.

Law enforcement told how Jake Ramsey Maze Murphy charged them, armed with his weapon.

Representatives confirmed the deputies were not looking for Murphy. Instead, they were searching for his father, Gerald Murphy.

However, when Jake Murphy began charging them, their priorities temporarily changed. They said, they tried to first use a taser on him.

But, he confronted them again. This time, officials reported he screamed he had a gun.

Investigators revealed three deputies fired the shots that killed him.

"It just puts an exclamation point on whatever the cases may be. There's not case that's routine for deputies, officers anywhere. When they go, you never know where people are in their life and what may trigger them or what they're gonna do," emphasized Chief Donna Turner.

Before deputies left the home, they found a large amount of marijuana. Apparently, several marijuana plants were growing near the home.

Gerald Murphy, the man deputies were originally looking for, was taken into custody. He has been charged with manufacturing marijuana.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now heading up this investigation.
