Mega Millions changes mean bigger prizes

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The Mega Million lottery game has changed, but in this case, change could be good ... meaning, more money if you win. But there are reports that not all lottery locations are keeping up with the times.

The price for each Mega Millions ticket is still $1, but lottery officials are now promising bigger prizes, though it means there are more numbers to choose from.

An Action News 5 viewer called to report to the AN5 Investigators that last week several lottery locations did not have the new lottery forms and he feels as though he wasted his money on the last drawing.

Action News 5's Lindsey Brown went to five different locations across Memphis, and all had the new forms. The first drawing using the new number matrix was last Tuesday.

Along with the number matrix change, the minimum jackpot will increase from $12 million to $15 million and jackpots will grow by at least $5 million after each drawing that happens without producing a winner.

If you are buying a Mega Millions ticket, make sure you get a form with the new matrix, which reads 76, rather than the old one, which read 56.
