University of Memphis men's basketball freshman Kuran Iverson has been suspended by the NCAA for the Tigers' season opener Nov. 14 versus Austin Peay after participating in an unauthorized summer league game in Hartford, Conn.
Under NCAA rules, players are only allowed to play
in summer league games in either their home area or close to where they attend
school, but not both. Iverson had already participated in the Bluff City
Classic prior to playing in the Hartford summer league game.
Memphis self-reported the violation.
Iverson is allowed to play in the Tigers' Nov. 8 exhibition contest against Christian Brothers, but is suspended for the Nov. 14 regular-season opener versus Austin Peay. The Hartford, Conn., native's first regular-season action is Nov. 18 when the Tigers travel to Stillwater, Okla., to face the No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys.
