MILLINGTON, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The search for a missing Alzheimer's patient continues in Millington.

It has been one week since Billy Joe Hardy went missing. Since then, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office has been actively searching for him.

Charlie Hardy hopes Thursday is not the last day of searching for his brother.

"They're looking for him like he's a little child or something. Which is a good thing," said Charlie. "We see this from time to time on TV but we never suspected that this would hit our family."

Last week, Billy Joe Hardy disappeared while out on a walk in the neighborhood. Deputies have since used ATVs, K-9s, and a helicopter to assist in the search.

Hardy suffers from Alzheimer's disease and his family says he does have a history of walking off.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office emergency service unit was not out searching Thursday due to weather, but tips will followed up on.

In the meantime, Charlie and his family will wait.

"We're still praying and hoping that God will return him to us safely," said Charlie.

The Hardy family says they grow more concerned as the weather gets colder.

If you have any information about Billy Joe Hardy's whereabouts, you are asked to call Millington police of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
