NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A babysitter was arrested overnight for allegedly abusing a child.

The 4-year-old was taken to Summit Medical Center with a 1-inch gash on his head.

Babysitter Josh Cash told officers the child fell off the couch. At the hospital, the child told his mother that Cash had thrown him on the ground and his head hit a toy, which caused the injury.

The child's mother was at a doctor's appointment when Cash was watching the child.

Cash is facing a charge of felony child abuse.
