NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

If you just can't wait for winter's cold, you've got a chance to feel the chill of 9 degrees above zero without ever leaving Nashville.

Opryland's annual holiday attraction Ice is back and bigger than ever, with more than 2 million pounds of colorful ice sculptures on display.

"Whether you're 2 or 92, the reaction is the same. People are filled with wonder at how they create this. I think the cold is certainly a factor. It's 9 degrees in here, so we give you a big blue parka to keep you warm. But I'd strongly advise you to bring your gloves and wear a hat," said Opryland spokeswoman Jenny Barker.

This year's theme is centered around the story of Frosty the Snowman and was created by 40 master ice sculptors from a small town in China, a neighbor to Siberia.

"The artisans are just incredible. The work they are able to accomplish, to take 2 million pounds of ice and carve them with chainsaws with such precision and great detail, that's what you'll see here," Barker said.

Those men are used to the cold. The town in China most come from is Harbin, where the average daily winter temperature is 2 degrees above zero.

The exhibit opens Nov. 14, and admission is about $25 for adults and about $20 for children ages 4 and up.
