Orphanage spared from storm

(WMC-TV) - Some North Mississippians are relieved after an orphanage they opened in the Philippines back in 2011 was spared from the storm.

Pastor Ray Hall of Marietta, Mississippi founded Rosemary's Home for Hope in the mountains of Leyte, Philippines.

After days of not being able to contact anyone at the orphanage, he received news Monday that everyone is okay.

"I heard reports that it was gonna be stronger than Camille (and) stronger than Hurricane Katrina that we suffered (through) here in Mississippi," stated Hall.

While the building did suffer some damage, the organization's supporters are currently working to assess the need and raise money to make repairs. Their goal is to help restore the home and assist residents in the surrounding area.
