KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A red light camera captured the sickening moments when a bicyclist was struck by a taxicab driver.

The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near 39th Street and Southwest Trafficway.

The cyclist was in the intersection when a taxi going through a green light that turned yellow slammed into him. The cyclist was traveling westbound while the cab was going southbound.

The impact threw the cyclist across the taxi's roof. The cyclist crashed to the ground on the passenger side. The impact also mangled the bike. The man, who is in his mid-30s, suffered a broken femur. He also suffered internal and head injuries.

The man is listed as in critical condition at an area hospital. His condition, while serious, is considered stable.

Police did not find a biker helmet at the scene.
