HENNING, TN -

(WMC-TV) – State fire marshals want to know what started a fire that killed a bedridden Mid-South woman Thursday night.

The fire started a little after 8 Thursday night at 121 Virginia Street in Henning, Tennessee, which is in Lauderdale County.

Henning police say a bedridden woman in her 60's lived in that home.

Her caregiver went across the street to the Dollar General and when he came back the house was on fire.

Fire investigators released a picture from the scene, that shows the left side of the home gone. The top of the home is charred and smoking.

The Henning Fire Dept received help from the Ripley Fire Department, but was unable to save the woman inside.

The state fire marshal will be on scene Friday morning investigating the cause of the fatal fire.
