(WMC-TV) - Jessica Pressler and her five siblings were in a car with their dad when a tire blew and their van rolled. Jessica severed her spinal cord and lost the use of her legs.

On Saturday, Collierville is rallying support for the 12-year-old by proclaiming it "Jessi's Day" at H.W. Cox Park.

Family friend Brandon Smith explained how the accident happened, "…blew out a tire on the van, the van rolled, seat belt malfunctioned, and she was ejected."

"It could happen to me or you, in an instant, it can happen to anybody and it's more than what one family can undertake on their own," added Smith.

Jessica's five siblings in the car are OK, though she spent weeks in the hospital and had several surgeries.

She is back in the Mid-South, now adjusting to life in a wheelchair without the use of her legs. And she is doing it with a smile and a sense of humor.

She remains upbeat and happy as she pops packing bubble wrap with her wheelchair.

Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at H.W. Cox Park in Collierville, there will be a car show, live music, food, kids' fun, and a 5K.

The event is all an effort to raise money for Jessica Pressler. Action News 5's Amy Speropoulos is emceeing Saturday's event.
