MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Saturday is the last day of early voting on the controversial sales tax referendum regarding Memphis pre-K.

If approved, the sales tax would be boosted half a cent to increase pre-K funding in the city.

If Memphians cannot make it to the polls Saturday, election day is Thursday, November 21st.

Politicians are urging undecided residents to attend the League of Women Voters' debate on the sales tax referendum.

In the debate, Reverend Kenneth Whalum, who is against the tax, will discuss the issue with Barbara Prescott, who supports the tax.

The debate will be held at the Benjamin L Hooks Library on Poplar in Memphis at 6 p.m. Monday, November 18th.
