LINDALE, TX (KLTV) -

A woman was transported to a local hospital after being hit by an S.U.V. Saturday evening while trying to cross an East Texas roadway.

Officials tell us the accident happened just after 7:30 Saturday evening off of Highway 69, just north of interstate 20. Authorities confirm that an older aged white woman who is a Lindale native was crossing the road to go eat at Burger King. That's when officials say a white S.U.V. driving southbound in the outside lanes hit the woman.

EMS crews performed CPR on the woman on site, and she was later transported to an area hospital. Her condition is not yet known.

Authorities say the woman was not in a cross walk at the time of the accident and that they don't believe texting while driving is a factor in this accident.
