(WMC-TV) - Number 11 versus number 7.

The CUSA Player of the year, versus the Big 12 Player of the year.

It's all Memphis vs. Oklahoma State, and the biggest test yet for the team from the Bluff City.

The Tigers hoping to make a statement early in this season and this was suppose to be the game to do it.

But the Tigers completely outmatched, falling 101-80.

The Tigers allowing Cowboys guard Marcus Smart to go off for 39 points.

Smart, who bypassed the NBA draft after last season's early exit from the NCAA tournament, had 26 points in the first half and finished with five 3-pointers on 11-21 shooting from the floor.

The Tigers four senior guards, combine for just 13 points in the first half, and were responsible for 9 of the Tigers 10 turnovers.

They finish with a combined for 21 points on 8-of-34 shooting.

A couple of unlikely sparks from the Tigers in the second...

Freshman Nick King finishes with a team high 23 points and Shaq Goodwin puts in 13 to lead the Tigers.

Memphis is back home Saturday against Nicholls State.
