MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Ruby Wilson, the 'Queen of Beale Street', has some new honors to celebrate. Not only did she receive the W.C. Handy Lifetime Achievement Award, she is also working on two new movies.

Ruby Wilson was wearing a huge smile Thursday morning as she showed Action News 5's Kym Clark her new award, named after the 'Father of the Blues,' W.C. Handy.

"Tell everyone about that... That's the bomb, W.C. Handy Lifetime Achievement Award and that was presented to me Sunday night by Heritage Tours," said Wilson.

It is a well deserved award for the woman many people know as the "Queen of Beale Street," an ambassador for Memphis around the world.

In addition to her busy singing schedule, Wilson is also working on two movies.

"We're filming 'Donald' and we've just finished 'Mystery Man,' which will premiere on the second of December," she explained.

And while Ruby enjoys acting in the movies, her love seems to be the singing stage.

Right now, Wilson is looking forward to doing a Christmas show on November 22 with the Southern Sons at Brown Baptist Church. On November 26, she is participating in a Thanksgiving benefit.
