Rainy weather will not put a damper on El Tour de Tucson - Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

El Tour officials: Rain will not put damper on ride

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

El Tour de Tucson officials are not worried about the rainy weather this weekend.

They say this is one of the safest bike rides in the nation.  More than 400 law enforcement officials will be patrolling the streets for El Tour de Tucson.

Ride officials say rainy roads could mean more flat tires for cyclists; rain can hide potholes, nails or glass which can cause a flat tire or even a crash.  So cyclists need to remember to bring their repair kits.

El Tour will have bike support along the route for cyclists and barricades will be up for drivers in the area.

Cyclists are required by state law to have lights in the front and back of the bike; they will receive a ticket if they do not.

Today officials with El Tour de Tucson are having a press conference at 3 p.m. today.  They will be discussing the rainy weather conditions then.
