MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - All Thanksgiving week, NBC's Today Show will be in Memphis to celebrate St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

It is a salute to kick off St. Jude's Thanks and Giving campaign, and the Mid-South will be well represented.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, cheerleaders from Memphis' Varsity Organization will open the Today Show in New York City. Also the West Memphis High School band will perform during the 8 a.m. hour from Memphis.

"Ten years later [after the TODAY coverage] we've raised $384 million and more importantly we've saved so many lives ... Because moms and dads saw these stories on the Today Show and said that's a symptom my child has," said daughter of St. Jude founder and activist Marlo Thomas.

Former St. Jude patients got to be a part of another live show. Action News 5 cameras were there to capture all the behind-the-scenes excitement from Thomas, the kids and their parents standing behind the camera.

"The kids get to experience the excitement. The marching band, the live television show, and be a part of that," said St Jude ALSAC CEO Rick Shadyac.
