Mid-South retailers beef up security for Black Friday

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Black Friday deals sometimes come with a lot of fights and arguments, not only in the Mid-South, but around our nation.

At the Wolfchase Galleria the parking lot is packed and among the crowd, are plenty of cops.

From Memphis police outside, to mall security inside, all kinds of eyes are trained on Black Friday shoppers.

Security has been tighter at Wolfchase since the mall opened Thanksgiving night.

Meanwhile, MPD skywatch towers are monitoring things in the parking lot, as they do at other major shopping areas across the city.

Wolfchase Galleria Spokesperson Arianne Cousin said, "We've taken extra measures to make sure our shoppers have a safe and comfortable customer experience and shopping experience."

Police have preached "stow it, don't show it" for years, which means put valuables and purchases in your trunk or otherwise out of sight.
