"And we brought a little over 40,000 pounds of food. That we are planning to distribute," said John Walton with the Mid-South Food Bank.

Every month the food bank turns the parking lot at the Landers Center in to a giant distribution center. An army of volunteers are matched with clients. Together they fill baskets with a variety of food items that people in need take home with them.

"Today we've brought cabbage, lettuce, rice, sausage, grapefruits. And every person that's coming through the line [Tuesday] has been 'pre-qualified' to receive the product," said Walton.

Monthly mobile pantry visits to the Landers Center started about a year ago. It is one of 15 mobile food pantries serving the Mid-South. For many of the people in line, every food bank visit is priceless.
