Ice storm, winter storm warnings in effect for Mid-South

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - As a major winter storm moves into the Mid-South, an ice storm warning is in effect for much of West Tennessee and East Arkansas.

A mix of freezing rain and sleet will begin Friday morning and continue into the early afternoon hours. Ice accumulation will average a quarter to half of an inch.

An ice storm warning will be in effect until 6 p.m. for the following counties:

Crockett County, Tenn., Dyer County, Tenn., Fayette County, Tenn., Gibson County, Tenn., Hardeman County, Tenn., Haywood County, Tenn., Lauderdale County, Tenn., Shelby County, Tenn., Tipton County, Tenn., Craighead County, Ark., Crittenden County, Ark., Cross County, Ark., Lee County, Ark., Mississippi County, Ark., Phillips County, Ark., Poinsett County, Ark., St. Francis County, Ark., DeSoto County, Miss., and Tunica County, Miss.

Winter storm warnings are in effect for several counties in Arkansas, while about 10 Mississippi counties face a winter weather advisory.
