(WMC-TV) - A Mid-South man could face charges after investigators say his story about a home invasion does not all add up.

Sheriff's deputies in Tipton County have been investigating a home invasion now for two and a half weeks.

Some new information has come forward and some inconsistencies in the story have led to a new twist in the investigation.

Richard Jones told Action News Five all about what happened to him when he says he was awakened by intruders in the middle of the night.

"He said, where's your wallet? Where's your wallet? They jerked everything out of the drawers," said Jones.

Deputies say items were taken.

"There was a handgun, currency, and some drugs," says Tipton County Sheriff's Office Chief Donna Turner.

Deputies also say this is not your run of the mill case.

"There were some inconsistencies with the initial report that was filed by the victim, Mr. Jones," adds Chief Turner.

The 61-year-old cancer patient says the men who broke into his home beat him up, took his gun, and $1,800 in cash.

He told Action News Five that money was used to pay for bills and his medications.

Deputies say marijuana was taken when intruders broke into Richard Jones' home.

"It's sad you know. We have to live in a world where people are so unkind cruel they would treat other human beings," said Jones.

Deputies say they are looking for a green Chevrolet extended cab truck that was seen in the area around the time of the incident.

They say they have three suspects of interest in the case.

Deputies expect formal charges against those three suspects to be filed sometime this week.
