MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – You have a chance to help some Mid-Southerners in need this holiday season with the Silver Bells program. The program works like an Angel Tree for senior citizens.

Memphis Tigers Coach Josh Pastner donated $1,000 to the effort on Tuesday and took 40 bells from the tree to fulfill those wishes for 40 Mid-South seniors.

These senior citizens ask for simple gifts, such as soap, towels and robes.

While Coach Pastner was at the Bank of Bartlett at Poplar and Kirby, other bank customers also wrote $1,000 checks to help the Silver Bells program.

You can pick a bell from the tree at the Meritan headquarters at 4700 Poplar or from any of the three Bank of Bartlett branches.

Gifts must be returned to Meritan by Wednesday, December 18th, to get more information about this program call 901-766-0658.

You can also donate online here: http://www.meritan.org/donate.html

Meritan is a non-profit organization in Memphis that provides health, social, and support services for people living impacted by aging and disabilities.
