MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Police arrested a man, who now sits on a $50,000 bond, on accusations that he used a tire iron to bash up a stranger's car in a case of road rage.

Yvonne Govan says she was in the car with her daughter when a woman with road rage pulled alongside.

"People are mean. They have no compassion anymore," said Yvonne. "And he pulled a Glock on me. So nothing surprises me in this day and time."

Nicholas Duggan allegedly hit another car on Interstate 40 and drove off. The other car followed until he pulled over on I-240 and reportedly attacked with a tire iron.

Police say he used it to knock out the driver's windows and windshield. He even allegedly threaten to kill her before he got back in his car and drove off again.

Then another car followed; police say Duggan slammed on his brakes and made it slam into his car.

"I mean, I'm not surprised," said Memphis resident Key Hoffman. "Memphis is a dangerous place."

An affidavit of complaint says Duggan confessed to the actions.

"You never know what anybody going through while they're driving or elsewhere. It's good to just do right by folks, try to treat people the way you want to be treated," said resident Ramad Smith.

If you find yourself in a hit-and-run accident, police say the more vehicle information you have the better. Although, they advise against getting into harm's way.
