Mid-South prepares for Mega Millions drawing

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – There's a lot of excitement and anticipation in the air because someone will win the second largest Mega Millions jackpot ever.

As we know, the estimated winnings stand at $400 million. The jackpot has grown so large because it's rolled over 20 times without a winner.

If one ticket matches all six numbers, the winner will have the choice of receiving the full jackpot in 30 annual payments, or a cash option of approximately $216.4 million before taxes.

People in the Mid-South are already dreaming about which option they'd choose.

"I'd take the lump sum, cause you know the economy goes down every now and then. They might say ‘Hey, we can't pay you right now.' Negative," Memphian Steven Williams said.

Tickets can be bought until 8:59 Friday night in Tennessee and Arkansas. Make sure to watch Action News 5 at 10 to see if you're a winner. We wish you luck!
