The Citadel's Darien Robinson Named to TSN FCS All-America Team
CHARLESTON, SC -
Darien Robinson has been named as one of two fullbacks on The Sports Network FCS All-America second team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Robinson, who wrapped up his stellar Citadel career in 2013, rushed for 966 yards and seven touchdowns during his senior season, falling 34 shy of posting consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns. His average of 80.5 yards per game ranked him sixth in the Southern Conference.
Robinson rushed for 100 yards four times his senior year and 13 times in his career, tied for the fourth most in school history. He posted a career-high 227 yards and scored twice against Old Dominion and also eclipsed the 100-yard plateau this past season against Chattanooga (129), VMI (115) and Appalachian State (109).
As a junior in 2012, the McKeesport, Pa., native rushed for 1,007 yards to become the first Bulldog to reach that level since Tory Cooper in 2007. Robinson finished the season ranked seventh in the SoCon and 39th in the nation with an average of 91.5 yards per game. He also led the team with 862 rushing yards and nine touchdowns during his sophomore season in 2011.
Robinson leaves The Citadel as a prominent figure in the school record book. His 2,935 career rushing yards are the fourth most in Bulldog history, and he is eighth with 488 attempts. In addition, Robinson stands seventh in yards per carry (6.01), tied for ninth in rushing touchdowns (22) and eighth in total touchdowns scored (24).
