COAHOMA COUNTY, MS -

(WMC-TV) – A parent in Mississippi is concerned about the safety of her children's elementary school, after it was damaged during Saturday night's stormy weather.

Monica Myers' children attend Sherard Elementary in Clarksdale. She says the roof was blown off the school and there's also damage to the central office in Coahoma County.

Even though her kids are out for Christmas break, Myers is concerned about when they'll be able to go back. She says her son is on the basketball team and they can't practice until the school is fixed.

Tonight on Action News 5 at 6, hear more from Myers and others concerned about the damaged school buildings.

Justin Hanson is also working to find the school's plan for what will happen when the break is over in January.
