MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The Memphis hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Lord Infamous, a Memphis native and founding member of Three 6 Mafia, who died last week.

Family members say Ricky Dunigan, better known as Lord Infamous, did not care much about the money and fame.

"He was one of the guys that created Three 6 Mafia, that created a sound of music that changed the whole music game," said Dunigan's half-brother, DJ Paul.

Saturday morning, Memphis police say they got a call to Methodist Hospital. They say Dunigan died after being found unresponsive in an apartment on the 2100 block of Ligon Court.

Police say "the cause of death has not be determined; however, (at this time) foul play is not expected."

DJ Paul says Lord Infamous recently told family members his doctor had given him four months to live because of kidney failure following a 2010 stroke.

"He was kinda talking like he was just tired of life. He was just tired of this and that and he wanted to make peace with everybody he made mad," said DJ Paul. "But nobody was never upset with him. He was always cool with everybody. Even people that didn't like me or Juicy or Boo or whoever, they still always like him because he was always the neutral one."

The rapper's death made news nationwide.

"He was the nicest guy possible. He was real cool dude. He was just so down to earth. He just liked to keep it like that," said his half-brother.

Visitation for Lord Infamous is scheduled to take place Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at N.J. Ford Funeral home on South Parkway. The funeral is Saturday at 12 p.m. at Royal Chapel CME Church.
