Memphis pastor, accused of sexual battery of teen, due in court

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – The Memphis pastor charged with sexual battery of a 16-year-old girl goes back to court Thursday morning.

Pastor Michael Bryant is the pastor at Hour of Restoration COGIC, located at Hickory Hill and Knight Arnold.

He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment last week, but according to the police affidavit the teen girl told investigators that Pastor Bryant had been touching her inappropriately for the past two years.

The teen says the touching usually happened several times a week, often while her mother was asleep.

According to court papers, the victim told an adult about the abuse about a year ago but they didn't go to authorities with the case.

Pastor Bryant is locked up under a million dollars bond. His attorney says that is way too high and he is taking steps to try and get that bond reduced.

According to the defense attorney, Braynt will please guilty to the charge.
