MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The day after Christmas is arguably one of the best, but busiest days to go shopping.

Thousands of Christmas gifts are either being exchanged for something else or simply returned.

So what are people out returning and shopping for this year?

Wolfchase Galleria in Cordova opened its doors a little earlier than normal after Christmas.

Shoppers were there to take advantage of one thing: a good deal.

"I just bought stuff from Fossil, got a new watch, probably gonna hit up American Eagle and definitely get deals, 50-60 percent off," said shopper Zachary Styer.

"I got a lot of stuff for not a whole lot of money," added shopper Maddie Ray.

Some stores were offering huge sales, even up to 75 percent off of selected items.

And while some shoppers were returning gifts, others were taking advantage of lower prices.

"We've had a lot of luck. The stores have been great, well staffed, lots of people out but it's a fun day," said shopper Lori Hawkins.

A recent survey by RetailMeNot says 42 percent of consumers will return some of their Christmas gifts.

Mall officials say it is never too late to spend money.

"People looking for that special New Year's Eve outfit so it you need something snazzy, make sure you come on out to the mall," added Wolfchase Galleria's Arianne Cousin.

Each store's return policy is different so mall officials advise that if you are returning those Christmas gifts, it is best to look at your return receipt before bringing the gift in for a return.
