Deputies arrest woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A 24-year-old woman is behind bars after Richmond County deputies said she stabbed her boyfriend during a fight.

Elizabeth Staten was arrested Tuesday on a battery charge, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Staten got into an argument with her boyfriend, Robert McBride, at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday at 2703 Garden Brook Ct. Staten is accused of stabbing McBride with a knife in his chest, arm and back. 

McBride was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center.

Staten fled the scene before deputies arrived, according to the sheriff's office. A warrant for her arrest was issued for battery. Staten also had felony arrest warrants for financial transaction card fraud.

She is being held at the Richmond County Jail.
