MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The search is on for a man who reportedly grabbed 15-year-old girl as she walked home from school and pulled her into a house. The teen was able to get away, but police are describing the case as an attempted kidnapping.

Investigators say the girl, who got away, has minor injuries to her arm, but is otherwise OK.

"Mostly these neighbors keep a watch around here," said Grover Buckelew, who lives in the area near Raleigh-Egypt High School. "They're real good and we watch out for each other."

Vivian Harper and her husband, Leslie, say they have an open door at their house. The two estimate they have helped raise nearly 50 children throughout the years at their house near the corner of Kerwin Drive and Tessland Road.

"I'm glad the girl got away," said Vivian. "That's terribly ... I don't know, nothing surprises me anymore."

Police have a partial description of the suspect. As of Thursday afternoon, no arrest has been made.
