Billy Joel to perform at Bridgestone Arena in March

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Billy Joel is coming to Nashville for a big concert on March 14. Bridgestone Arena officials made the announcement during a news conference Thursday morning.

Nashville will be one of a few stops the "Piano Man" will make nationwide.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Jan. 18.

American Express card members will be able to buy tickets starting Monday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. through Friday, Jan. 17, at 10 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased through ticketmaster.com, the Bridgestone Arena box office or by calling (800) 745-3000.

Bridgestone Arena also debuted its new Nissan SoBro entrance at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Demonbreun on Thursday.

In addition to the new entrance, officials are constructing a new tavern and a new, larger shop to buy Nashville Predators merchandise.

Mayor Karl Dean says Bridgestone's expansion is vital to the city.

"The hockey and arena, the economic impact they have on the arena is about $410 million. And the Billy Joel concert just underscores that, because Billy Joel is going to sell this place out. And there will be a lot of happy people here who will come downtown, buy tickets and who will go out into the city that night and enjoy the city. It's going to be a good thing for Nashville," Dean said.

According to the mayor, the expansion will make Bridgestone Arena the center of downtown, connecting Broadway with the growing SoBro district including the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Music City Center.
