Police make arrest in robbery, shooting at apt complex

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Memphis police have arrested a man in connection with the robbery and shooting of a man in Pershing Park Apartments on Wednesday morning. Charles Crump, 27, was charged with Especially Aggravated Robbery.

Around 12:30 Wednesday morning, a couple returned home to the Pershing Park Apartments, when someone pulled up in a brown car and asked if they had change.

They said that they did not and that's when the person in the car said, "This is a robbery." The couple ran in separate directions and the robber shot the man once in the stomach.

His girlfriend was not hit. During the investigation, Crump became a suspect and was identified in a photo line-up by the woman as the person that robbed and shot her boyfriend.

Crump is being held on a $100,000 bond and is due in court on Thursday, January 16.
