DRUMMONDS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A Drummonds man was found guilty in the shooting death of his wife. Shannon Hatchel was killed as her 5-year-old nephew watched TV nearby.

Richard Hatchel was convicted in Tipton County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon. He was found guilty of first degree murder and felony reckless endangerment.

Tipton County deputies found Shannon Hatchel dead in her mobile home in January 2013. Her brother-in-law's son was inside watching TV when she was killed.

According to brother-in-law Glenn Cox, Shannon wanted a divorce from Richard. Police say she had kicked him out of the house. Later, when the two got into an argument, Richard shot her in the chest with a rifle.

"She was a good person. She would do anything for anybody, baby sit for you or anything," Cox said in January 2013.
