Who Dat players and fans figure out game winning plan

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Whether you believe in the superstition or say it is just a fluke, the Who Dat nation is going crazy over Popeyes and green Gatorade after Saturday's history making playoff win.

"We had Popeyes, red beans and rice, a little mashed potatoes and gravy. So I think that was what was missing for us. So I think we are good to go now," Saints Linebacker Curtis Lofton said.

It is a tradition the team had during the Super Bowl winning season and Coach Sean Payton brought it back last weekend eating Popeyes and drinking the same green Gatorade.

Saints Fan Zachary Williams said, "Of course, of course, you have to keep the tradition. Popeyes originated in New Orleans. So, you know, go Saints! Let's roll!"

"I think I might try some just to help the team out," Rouses Gulfport Store Director Robert Strahan said of the green Gatorade his store is stocking up on.

Strahan is not alone. Several black and gold fans say they also plan to show support for their team by taking part in what is being hailed the game winning tradition.

"All the stores got a load of green Gatorade to support the Saints. Rouses, being from Louisiana, we are strong Saints fans," Strahan said.

The extra stock of Gatorade is right by the front doors of the Gulfport store along with black and gold king cakes and other Saints memorabilia. On the stack of Gatorade is a sign, "Do whatever it takes. We believe. Go Saints."

"We wanted to just kind of live it up for the Saints," Strahan said. "Do a little extra for the Saints."

"That's why I'm here today," Saints Fan Reece Roberts said. "Last week we had friends over and they won the game, so now we have to do it exactly the same way."

Roberts said he plans to add Payton's Popeyes game plan to this weekend's party menu.

"It's both great food and it does help," Roberts said with a big smile on his face.
