GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greer boy who was almost killed after a TV fell on his head is recovering better than expected.

Doctors say Ian Greene, 4, should make a 90 percent recovery from the incident that left his face crushed, his eardrums ruptured and his brain damaged.

"He now rolls on his own, he holds his head up on his own, he also is laughing and smiling," said Ian's mom, Summer Brown. "He's more focused, he keeps his eyes open."

Ian was climbing on his dad's dresser Dec. 16 when the TV that was on top of it fell over onto his head. The family said the TV weighed at least 150 pounds.

Doctors told the family it was a miracle he even survived. He was flown by medical helicopter to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he has been recovering. He is undergoing physical and speech therapy, and the goal is to have him talking again as early as Friday.

His mom said he giggles and waves. He also becomes very frustrated, she said, seeming to be aware of his injuries.

Shortly after the incident, a Prayers for Ian Facebook page was established, and thousands of people have rallied from around the world praying for his recovery. The family credits those prayers for Ian's miraculous turnaround.

"It touches my heart because I didn't even think the world was like that no more," said Brown. "I got faith. It's made me realize that there is a stronger person up there watching over us all."
