SHELBY COUNTY, TN -

(WMC-TV) – After one week under his belt as Bartlett Municipal Schools Superintendent, David Stephens is working to pave a path of cooperation between all seven area school districts.

The former deputy superintendent for Shelby County Schools says the municipal superintendents have a standing weekly meeting to get on one accord not only to find savings, but also to brainstorm as they take on the task of launching new school systems.

Monday, Stephens is meeting with his former colleague, Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dorsey Hopson, to discuss common interests, including services all the school systems could share.

One school consultant recently suggested the school systems invoke The Education Cooperation Act.
