Reports: Arkansas State University football player killed in Jackson, Tenn.

JACKSON, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Two people were reportedly killed in Jackson, Tenn. Wednesday night. Several sources are reporting that one of the men killed was an Arkansas State University football player, according to The Jackson Sun.

The Jackson Sun reports that several websites that cover the Arkansas State University football team are posting about the death of Markel Owens.

A post from the football team's official Twitter account Thursday morning expressed condolences to the defensive lineman's family.

"Today is a tough day for the Red Wolves family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Markel Owens' family and friends at this difficult time."

Police have yet to confirm the identities of the Jackson shooting victims, reports The Jackson Sun. The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on Walker Road.

According to AStateRedWolves.com, Owens grew up in Jackson, Tenn., and graduated from Liberty Technology Magnet High School in 2010.
